Chandler Learning Center
The court is only half the game. Chandler Learning Center helps high school basketball players raise SAT scores, stay sharp in the classroom, and navigate the college application process — all online, all on a schedule that works around practice, travel, and tournaments.
Founded by Chandler Harben in 1996, Chandler Learning Center has spent nearly three decades helping students unlock their academic potential. What makes them a natural fit for the High School Basketball Portal community is simple: their entire model is built around flexibility, individualization, and outcomes — three things every serious basketball player and recruiting family needs.
Players don't fit the standard 9-to-5 study schedule. Practices, AAU travel, lifting, showcases, film sessions, and game nights eat into prep time fast. Chandler's fully virtual model means sessions happen when you're available — early mornings before school, late evenings after practice, or on the road between tournaments.
Targeted, score-focused prep tailored to each student. Past test patterns are studied closely so prep time is spent on what actually moves the needle.
All major subject areas — math, sciences, English, history, AP courses — plus study skills, organizational support, and writing development.
Senior advisors guide families through essay strategy, application timelines, school selection, and storytelling that helps each student stand out.
PSAT, AP Exams, SSAT, ISEE, prep-school entrance exams, and graduate-level tests (GMAT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT) for older students and families thinking long-term.
A higher SAT score doesn't just open more academic doors — for recruited athletes, it can be the difference between getting an offer and getting passed over. College coaches need players whose test scores and GPAs clear admissions, especially at academically rigorous Division I, Division II, Division III, and NCAA-affiliated programs.
Chandler's athlete-friendly approach is built for this reality:
Chandler's tutoring team is anchored by alumni and current graduate students from Harvard, Princeton, MIT, Stanford, Columbia, Duke, Dartmouth, UC Berkeley, Yale, Brown, and the University of Pennsylvania — among others. These aren't generalists reading off a script. They're subject-matter specialists in engineering, mathematics, neuroscience, economics, computer science, the humanities, and the standardized tests that gate college admissions.
The senior college advisory team brings deep professional experience too — including a former marketing and advertising executive with two decades of branding work, and a Princeton graduate who competed for Switzerland at the 1992 Olympic Games in swimming. That blend of academic credentials and real-world experience is exactly what student-athletes need when telling their college admissions story.
“Our extensive experience allows us to quickly determine students' key issues and create
a truly bespoke education experience for each of our clients.”
