Bobby Mahala knows a student athlete’s development goes beyond the court. As a former New York City firefighter and longtime basketball coach, Bobby has built his life on discipline, faith, and helping others reach their full potential. Through the High School Basketball Portal, Bobby works closely with student-athletes and their families to navigate the recruiting process, developing not only basketball skills but also character, confidence, and resilience.
As a former standout at Wagner College, Bobby made history with an unforgettable performance in 1983 when Wagner upset Duke, showcasing an unstoppable style that left a lasting mark. Now, as a Director of the High School Basketball Portal, Bobby combines his on-court legacy with over a decade of coaching expertise, including a mentorship under Hall of Famer Bob Hurley Sr. His passion for developing young athletes shines through in a platform designed to elevate skills, build confidence, and connect players with college opportunities. He has helped train student-athletes at The Patrick School, as well as other premier New Jersey High Schools.
